Last Friday Huntington (Ind.) Circuit Court Judge Thomas Hakes ruled that a local dairy cannot apply manure to any fields. Instead, DeGroot Dairy must hire a third-party contractor to custom apply the manure to fields, or the dairy can pump or haul it to a waste treatment facility.

According to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette the Indiana Department of Environmental Management requested a preliminary injunction against the dairy to prevent any more alleged discharges of manure into a nearby creek. To learn more, go to:
