Methane digester woes continue for DeRuyter

Dan DeRuyter told Dairy Herd Management last September that he is not looking for any special favors; he just wants to be able to sell the power generated from his methane digester in a competitive market.

But he continues to run into roadblocks.

The Yakima Herald Republic reports that Pacific Power will only pay him for 1 megawatt of power rather than the 1.2 megawatts his digester is capable of generating. .

DeRuyter “needs to be able to market electricity at his capacity of 1.2 megawatts to make the project pencil out and provide a return on his investment,” the Herald Republic article said.
