Fictitious rock star characters — White Gold and the Calcium Twins — have hit California salons and online video sites recently to promote the beauty benefits of low-fat milk to teenage girls.
During the campaign, beauty packs containing White Gold-branded posters, plastic magazine covers, emery boards, nail polish and compact mirrors will be distributed to teens to instill what studies have shown all along: that drinking low-fat milk daily can nurture strong nails and healthy, shiny hair. The beauty packs will be available at 75 salons throughout
"While visiting salons is a fun activity for teens, especially girls, this program will hopefully teach them that beauty starts from the inside out," says Steve James, executive director of the California Milk Processor Board and creator of the Got Milk? campaign. "What you put in your body is just as important as beauty treatments themselves."
