According to a recent article in the New York Times, advertisers are turning to milk cartons as a way to reach school children and moms.

Ads that appear on half-pints distributed in school lunch programs are targeted at children. Gallon jug advertisements are aimed at adults who do the shopping for their households.

A variety of advertisements have already appeared on milk cartons from Stouffer's frozen dinners, a new “Pinocchio” DVD to Cheerios, reports the New York Times. And, according to one source the milk carton advertising has paid off. Some brands have seen anywhere from a 4 to 6 percent increase in sales to doubling in sales for smaller brands.
