The Daily Globe reports the eight-week long Farmers Feed Us campaign will feature a Minnesota family and will use social media to reach young families.
The campaign, presented by partners including Farm Bureau and the University of Minnesota, will center around Rita Vander Kooi and her family at Ocheda Dairy. The campaign wanted to use a female dairy producer to connect with metro-area mothers who do most of the family grocery shopping. The goal of the campaign is to educate consumers about the people who work to grow their food.
The Vander Koois operate an 850-cow dairy in rural Worthington. Both Rita and her husband, Joe, are graduates of the University of Minnesota. The campaign was looking for a young dairy family who were University of Minnesota alumi, Farm Bureau members and have children.
The new campaign will give away shopping sprees at Cub Foods and tickets to a Minnesota Gophers basketball game. The campaign includes videos of the Vander Kooi family sharing their passion for farming.
