Several efforts are under way across America this Thanksgiving week to recognize America's Farmers through an extensive advocacy campaign.

Last Thanksgiving, Monsanto began an effort to advocate on behalf of America's Farmers, including social media, digital, print and broadcast advertising.

This year, the campaign expands to include billboards and online webisodes that follow farm families and documents rural life.

• Thank a Farmer video and messages of thanks on www.AmericasFarmers.com. A video in which people from around the country thank American farmers will be live on the Web site on Monday, Nov. 22. Visitors to the site are encouraged to post their own thank you messages to farmers. Media are encouraged to share links to the videos and messages on the site.

• Key landmarks and buildings in 20 U.S. cities are the backdrop for outdoor projections (video with subtitles) that spotlight the economic and environmental contributions of farmers. Several different projections will light up buildings across the country in the evenings of Nov. 25-27. A complete listing of cities and locations appears below.

• Keep your camera ready the week of Thanksgiving and you could win an iPad. From November 22-26 capture a photo of any "America's Farmers" building projection or roadside billboard and post it to the America's Farmers Facebook page or Tweet it to @AmericasFarmers for a chance to win an iPad. On Dec. 3 one entrant will be randomly selected to win an Apple 16GB iPad. Official sweepstake rules are available at www.americasfarmers.com.

• Tune into the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or NFL football, which are among the programs airing Monsanto's America's Farmers Grow America advertisements. The ads will be broadcast on 74 stations in 18 markets during the Thanksgiving weekend.

• This advocacy is just one part of Monsanto's commitment to support farmers and rural communities. The America's Famers Grow Communities program expanded this fall to 1,204 counties across 38 states. Eligible farmers can sign up to direct $2,500 to their favorite local non-profit organization through Dec. 31 by visiting www.growcommunities.com or by calling 1-877-267-3332.
