Last week Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, with the help of several State Patrol troopers and McHenry County Sheriff officers, raided Sandhills Dairy, Towner, N.D. and arrested 13 of the dairy’s employees on charges of being in the country illegally.

So far, criminal charges only have been filed against two of the employees for “knowingly possessing and using fake identification cards.” Investigations are continuing on the other 11 employees including one female employee who was given a humanitarian release to care for a child. She will still need to appear at a hearing.

Owner Mike Zimmerman told the Minot Daily News that the 700-cow dairy may have to close if it is unable to replace the employees who were arrested.
