Paul Bikowitz has been named Chief Executive Officer of Southeast Milk, Inc. (SMI) effective March 1, 2010. Bikowitz, a dairy industry veteran, most recently served as president of Heartland Farms, a large fluid milk processor in
In addition, Jana Unterman is named the cooperative’s Chief Operating Officer. Unterman has extensive experience in milk marketing and project management. She is a former Assistant Federal Milk Market Administrator and currently operates her own management consulting company.
In announcing the selections, Joe Wright, President of SMI stated, “SMI and its dairy farmer members are fortunate to have a person of Paul’s caliber to be its CEO, and Jana to provide the cooperative expertise in milk marketing and project management. During the past several years SMI experienced much growth and expansion, growing to almost a $1 billion a year business. We are confident that with both Paul and Jana, SMI will capitalize on this growth and help our cooperative to better serve its dairy farmer owners.”
Southeast Milk, Inc. is a cooperative that markets about 3 billion pounds of milk annually from 290 dairy farm families. The milk is marketed to major dairy processors as well as three fluid milk plants owned and managed by the cooperative. SMI is a full-service cooperative; in addition to milk marketing, it provides milk hauling, feed, and dairy supplies to its members.
