Davis Family Dairies is planning to build a second large dairy in Minnesota. Only this 3,000-cow facility will allow veterinary students from the University of Minnesota to live and learn there.

The Davis family already owns Northern Plains dairy near St. Peter, Minn. This second dairy will be similar in design and about 15 miles northwest of their existing dairy near New Sweden, Minn.

According to the Mankato Free Press, the dairy is estimated to cost $15 million. The University will pay to build a small dorm on site, a treatment room, small lab and a classroom on site.

The Davis family also operates Davisco, an international food business.
