Members of the Iowa Manure Management Action Group are developing a new resource for the state’s crop and livestock producers.
The group will write and distribute a series of fact sheets that will address a variety of issues regarding manure management. They will distribute a new fact sheet each month. The first fact became available in July.
“This valuable tool comes in response to the continued need to provide information on regulations, best management practices, neighbor relations and sources of additional information for people who produce and apply manure as crop nutrients,” says Angela Rieck-Hinz, Iowa State University Extension program specialist.
IMMAG members identified the topics for the 11 fact sheets planned for distribution. The July issue will serve as an introduction and cover the various types of livestock operations. Other topics include land application, winter manure application and manure stockpiling.
The fact sheets are available through IMMAG’s Web site at http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/immag/pubsimms.html. IMMAG members also will distribute the fact sheets through their respective newsletters, magazine, producer mailings and the media. You can print copies from the IMMAG Web site.
