USDA has released the "Pre-Harvest Security Guidelines and Checklist 2006" to help producers enhance security at the farm level. The agency designed the measures to help protect against natural disasters, as well as the unintentional or intentional introduction of plant or animal diseases.

USDA developed the voluntary guidelines and checklists based upon recommendations made by producers throughout the United States. The guide contains tips for general agriculture, crops and livestock operations.

You can obtain a free copy at your local Farm Service Agency Service Centers. Or you can access online at www.usda.gov/documents/PreHarvestSecurity_final.pdf
