LocalHumane is a new group that has formed to clarify a few common misconceptions held by the public at large about HSUS and its relation to local humane societies.

Information on the website says: "We're doing this because we believe that local donors want to give locally but do not understand the relationship of the organizations, thus they do what they perceive as right. We want them to understand the implications of their actions. We're also doing this because local humane societies need help. They've been fighting a societal ill for a very long time and require a greater level of public understanding in order to achieve their missions."

The site claims: "We are a small group of animal welfare leaders, donors and grassroots marketing professionals that share a common vision of educating people about animal welfare."
