'Night milk' allegedly aids insomniacs

A German company, Milchkristalle GmbH, will soon be releasing a milk powder product that they claim will help insomniacs sleep better.

According to a report by the London Guardian, Milchkristalle GmbH has patented this product as “nocturnal milk,” claiming it contains levels of the sleep hormone melatonin that are 25 times higher than that found in normal milk.

The company has started milking its cows between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

The product has been met with some skepticism. One critic says that the milk powder would have to be drunk in huge quantities to have a real effect and recommends drinking a glass of milk.
