A number of Wisconsin farmers are having difficulty getting operating loans.

“I have heard that a lot of people are not getting operating loans,” Tim Strobel, a dairy farmer from Watertown, Wis., told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

With the continued downturn in milk prices, many dairy farmers could see their lines of credit run out.

The Journal Sentinel article cites a survey by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago showing that about 11 percent of Wisconsin farmers with existing credit probably will not be able to get new credit lines this year.
