PDPW commodity marketing class offered

Tackle the difficulty of commodity marketing head-on with the help of experts and support of other producers and agribusiness professionals at Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) commodity marketing six-class course.

An introductory class will be held on Dec. 11 in Madison, Wis. This first class is an overall introduction to the six-class series and requires no obligation from you. After this first introductory class, you will have the opportunity to enroll in the five instructional classes to grow your skills.
Each class is tailored to a specific topic.

Topics include understanding agricultural commodity markets and marketing, developing an effective marketing plan, analyzing the market for market activity, the futures market, understanding and utilizing the cash market, the options market, and marketers and hedgers checklist.
Each session will be led by Carl Babler. Babler has on-farm experience growing up on a dairy in Illinois and entered the broker world after graduation. His education includes two Master’s degrees, one from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the other from Harvard University.
