Jean-Mari Peltier has been named Counselor to the Administrator on Agriculture Policy at the Environmental Protection Agency. The California native will serve as the central contact between the EPA and USDA and monitor Congressional activities on agricultural issues.
Peltier has most recently served as president of the California Citrus Quality Council. However, she has had many industry and government advisory positions in trade and the environment.
“In addition to bringing valuable input to the table, she will help enhance communications with non-agency agriculture groups,” said Christie Whitman, the EPA administrator.
The agriculture counselor position was established in the first Bush administration but was not continued by the Clinton Administration.
