Just a few months after losing the battle in the California Supreme Court to stop the “happy cows” advertising by the California Milk Advisory Board, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has decided to start doing some advertising of its own.

The animal welfare group is calling the media campaign “Happy cows? You decide.” In addition to television commercials, billboards, radio commercials and even public demonstrations, the group has set up a Web site for people to cast their vote. According to the PETA Web site the ads are designed “to expose the cruel reality of California’s dairy industry.”

The ads will begin airing next week in Sacramento, Modesto, Santa Cruz, San Diego and Bakersfield.
