If life is what happens when you’re making other plans, then what do you do when the unexpected happens?
A University of Wisconsin-Extension workshop, “Planning for the Unexpected Tomorrow,” is designed to help farm families prepare for those untimely, unexpected events that can send the family and the business into a tailspin. This workshop grew from the popularity of a breakout session at the 2009 Heart of the Farm conference.
“Planning for the Unexpected Tomorrow” will be Friday, Aug. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Oshkosh, Wis.
The program addresses the characteristics of resilient families and how families deal with crisis; how to organize contingency plans for unexpected events, both short term disruptions and catastrophic events; and it outlines what happens to property and other legal issues when there is no plan at the time of an unexpected event, such as death or disability.
