A telephone survey completed in late October reveals that 66 percent of U.S. consumers would buy, or would consider buying meat and milk from cloned animals if it was declared safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

The survey of 1,000 consumers was conducted by KRC Research for Viagen, Inc., a Texas company that is working with cloning cattle, pigs and horses.

Other findings include that 45 percent of consumers said they “knew nothing at all” about animal biotechnology; 26 percent knew “a little” about the subject and 21 percent responded they knew “some.”
