MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin environmental officials are inviting the public to sound off on a giant dairy's expansion request.

The Department of Natural Resources says Rosendale Dairy in east central Wisconsin wants to double its milking cows to 8,000 and beef cattle to 300. The dairy wants to modify its wastewater permit to account for the additional animals.

Farms with large numbers of animals need wastewater permits to ensure they properly manage their manure.

The DNR has scheduled a public hearing on the request for Dec. 3 in Ripon, Wis.
