The Food Guide Pyramid is up for review, and dairy enthusiasts hope the revised guidelines will include more servings of dairy products.

Evidence supporting dairy’s role in weight reduction and a healthy diet continues to build. It’s this information that dairy groups hope will persuade the USDA to increase the daily-recommended servings of dairy products in the food pyramid to three or four daily servings. Current recommendations are for two to three servings.

"Arming our food industry and health organization partners with strong science from independent sources will help protect dairy’s position in the Food Guide Pyramid," adds Greg Miller, senior vice president of nutrition and scientific affairs for the checkoff-funded National Dairy Council.
