The Farmer reports Rabobank expects the U.S. dairy market will impact the global dairy market in the upcoming years.
A podcast by Rabobank said the role of the U.S. dairy industry has changed in recent years. While the U.S. dairy industry has looked to global markets to sell surplus in past years, the industry is now seeking the world market which offers higher prices. In order for the U.S. dairy industry to be active in the world market processors must modify processing and marketing activities.
"The U.S. dairy industry has the capacity and capability to compete and to provide additional product into the global market," said Rabobank Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory Dairy Analyst Hayley Moynihan. "From that point of view, U.S. dairy products will influence the world market because of the volume that can be provided, and we will likely see more U.S. processors and exporters become active globally."
