Despite the terrific growth record one must remember that organic dairy accounts for a small percent of total dairy sales. And according to the research group Oregon Tilth Inc, demand for organic dairy products has started to slow – a 20 percent increase instead of 30 percent of 40 percent increases.
Horizon Organic expects demand for organic dairy products to continue to grow at a good pace – about 20 to 25 percent – for up to the next five years. That’s why it and others are actively searching for more dairy producers interested in converting to organic production.
