South Dakota rethinks raw-milk rules

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture has withdrawn proposed rules to regulate raw-milk sales in the state, at least for now.

Affected dairies said the regulations were too onerous and would have been detrimental to their business. State officials said they will consider developing amended standards after discussions with impacted farmers, as well as consumers.
