A new study published in the January Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy reports that there is little or no scientific evidence that the use of antibiotics in feed animals negatively impacts human health.

Furthermore, U.S. data indicate that the incidence of antibiotic-resistant foodborne pathogens is generally declining.

Study authors conclude that if the U.S. follows the European ban on growth-promoting antibiotics, it may actually jeopardize both animal and human health.
