As more and more people shy away from being out in the sun -- for fear of skin cancer -- they run the risk of becoming vitamin-D deficient. And, two studies in this week's online version of the journal Pediatrics raise this concern with regard to children.
In one study, researchers determined that 9 percent of children are deficient in vitamin D, and another 61 percent are "insufficient."
This is another reason for children to drink milk, since milk is fortified with vitamin D.
