Suicides a tragic result of farm economy

Reports of farmer suicides are spreading in the midst of a depressed dairy economy.

"Earlier this year, a farmer in southern Maine hanged himself in his barn. Recently, two central Maine farmers in separate communities -- one an organic milk producer -- shot and killed themselves," reports the Bangor Daily News.

Suicides have reportedly occurred in Colorado and California, as well.
