As USDA officials continue to track down the 81 animals that entered the U.S. from Canada last September another Washington herd has been quarantined.

Last Friday, a dairy near Mattawa, Washington was placed under quarantine after USDA officials tracked one of the 81 Canadian animals in question to the herd. That brings the total of quarantined herds to three. In addition to the Mattawa dairy, the Sunny Dene Dairy at Mabton and Grandview and a feed operation in Sunnyside are all under quarantine.

So far 11 of the 81 animals that arrived in the U.S. at the same time as the cow at the Mabton dairy which tested positive for BSE have been accounted for. USDA continues its efforts to track down the rest.
