Penn State Dairy Alliance is offering production skills training for Spanish-speaking dairy employees at sites across
In April, half-day workshops will be presented on obstetrics, milking and udder health, feeding and calf care, and cow health. All workshops will be taught in Spanish by a Spanish-speaking instructor. Participants will receive training materials translated in both English and Spanish. Each workshop will also feature hands-on practice at a nearby farm.
“These workshops are designed to help Spanish-speaking employees more fully understand the reasons behind production practices. And, as a result, they may contribute more fully to the success of the dairy and will be more committed to their employers,” explains Lisa Holden with the Penn State Dairy Alliance.
Each workshop date includes a morning and afternoon session. The fee is $65 per person per session or $120 per person to attend both sessions on the same day. The schedule includes:
