According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, a Tulare County, Calif., dairy has had its organic certification suspended. The exact reason for the suspension has not been made public.

The 10,000-cow dairy near Pixley, Calif., is owned by Case Vander Eyk Jr.  About 3,500 cows at the dairy are managed separately as an organic herd.

The Vander Eyk Dairy is one of several large organic dairies that have been under fire from the Cornucopia Institute and others in the organic industry who attest that large dairies can not meet the federal organic standards.
