Two California counties are changing how they handle requests for dairies wanting to relocate there. In FresnoCounty, dairy owners currently can build a dairy on land zoned as agricultural without having to get a special county permit.

In the northern SacramentoValley, GlennCounty officials just completed two-and-a-half years of study to write the dairy element plan for the county. The dairy element outlines the rules a producer must adhere to in order to build a dairy in the county.
