USDA released two reports on agricultural biotechnology to illustrate how it’s changing the face of agriculture.

The reports, Global Traceability and Labeling Requirements for Agricultural Biotechnology-Derived Products: Impacts and Implications for the United States; and Preparing for the Future, cover the global requirements for traceability and labeling of agricultural biotechnology products and the potential future applications of such products.

The first report considers the increase in mandatory traceability and labeling requirements in other countries; how different segments of the United States food and feed supply chain are addressing those requirements; and relevant marketplace issues and tools.

The second report provides an analysis of the factors that will shape the future use of biotechnology and identifies broad trends that are likely to influence that use as well as key uncertainties that could drive the future in different directions.
