World Ag Expo and E.M. Tharp Inc.’s “We Believe in Growing” scholarship was awarded to two graduating seniors from California’s Central Valley.

Cassie Scot Miner from Riverdale, Calif. and Richard R. Sholander, from Lindsay, Calif. were announced as the scholarship winners earlier this week.

Both graduating seniors plan to pursue careers in agriculture after attending college. Both will receive a $2,500 scholarship to be renewed up to four years, totaling $10,000 per student.

Miner has applied to attend Cal Poly State University San Luis Obispo or Fresno State to major in Animal Science and ultimately become a veterinarian or dairy lab technician.
 
Sholander has applied to attend Cal Poly state University San Luis Obispo. He plans to major in animal science and would like to start a career in farm advising after graduating.

Graduating seniors from Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties with plans to attend a four-year university were eligible to apply for the scholarship.
