A new report by USDA’s Economic Research Service compares prices paid by consumers for food with prices received by farmers for corresponding commodities.

This data product has two components: 1) the marketing bill and 2) at-home foods by commodity group.

For example, last year, the average retail price of cheddar cheese was $4.73 per pound. Meanwhile, dairy farmers received $1.77 or 38 percent.

The report offers similar data for several other dairy products, as well as a number of ag commodities.
