The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says that a leak at Wayside Dairy is not responsible for a series of well contamination incidents in southern Brown County earlier this year.
Officials originally suspected that a transfer line break at the dairy’s milk house could have been the cause for the area drinking-water well problems. But that has been ruled out. The investigation found that the leaked materials did not migrate into water. Furthermore, the dairy had immediately stopped and repaired the leak.
No charges will be filed against Wayside Dairy for the incident.
