Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources investigators announced last Friday that they had traced the source of a manure spill into a tributary of Fischer Creek to Maple Leaf Dairy 3.

According to the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, DNR officials had identified the southernmost barn of the main dairy located just north of Cleveland, Wis., as the source of the spill.

Water samples taken from the creek indicate that the dissolved oxygen level is low – indicating that fish should be able to survive. The extent of damage will not be fully assessed until the investigation is complete. Cleanup is expected to take several days.
