Wisconsin raw milk measure moves on

Legally selling raw milk in Wisconsin moved one step closer to reality yesterday when the Assembly Committee on Rural Economic Development recommended approval of Assembly Bill 628 that would allow unpasteurized milk sales direct from farms licensed by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. The bill passed by an eight-to-one margin.

The measure, and it's state Senate companion bill, now move on to the full state legislature.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Gov. Jim Doyle said Tuesday he may favor legalizing raw milk sales to the general public, under the right circumstances.
