According to a new report by the NPD Group, refrigerated yogurt showed the largest growth in number of units consumed per child last year compared to 2008.
Fresh fruit, the most-consumed kids snack, also posted gains ranking third for growth in per-capita consumption. String cheese/pre-packaged cheese cubes or shapes ranked fourth for per-capita consumption, reports MediaPost Communications.
The growth in yogurt consumption is in line with a prediction announced earlier this year by the makers of Danone yogurt. Danone company officials predict yogurt consumption to double in four years. Read more.
