Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/16/2013
 
   Receipts:  1176    Last Week:  1267    Year Ago:  1507
 
  Compared to last week:  Calves were mostly steady to firm.  No 
recent adequate test of yearling cattle for comparison.  Demand 
very good for weaned calves in thin to average flesh.  Winter grasses
and wheat benefited from last week's rainfall but stock water 
conditions largely unchanged.  Cattle over 600 lbs. made up 29 
percent of supply and heifers made up 48 percent of total.
   Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 lower.  Slaughter bulls steady to
1.00 higher.  Packer demand good.  A total of 205 cows and bulls sold 
with 49 percent going to packers.
