Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX - 01/07/2013

Cattle and Calves: 1311      Last Week: 0    Year Ago: 593
 
   No recent comparable sales in any class due to the sale being closed for two 
weeks during the holiday season.  Trade activity and demand were moderate to 
good.  The area remains dry, however a chance of rain is predicted for the 
middle of the week.  Slaughter cows and bulls traded with a higher undertone 
compared to the last sale three weeks ago.  Slaughter cows and bulls made up 5 
percent, 2 percent replacements and 93 percent feeders.  Feeder supply included 
42 percent steers and bulls, 58 percent heifers.  Near 78 percent of the run 
weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1 few 358 lbs 207.00; few 436 lbs 188.00; few 472 
lbs 175.00; 550-600 lbs 159.50-162.00; 600-700 lb calves 150.00-156.50; lot 734 
lb calves 151.50; lot 878 lbs 144.75. 
   Medium and Large 1-2 few 323 lbs 203.00; 600-650 lbs 146.00-148.50; lot 758 
lbs 149.50; 800-850 lbs 139.50-144.75.
