On Friday negotiated cash trade was mostly inactive on light demand in all
feeding regions. 5-Area week to date negotiated cash trade per Mandatory Price
Reporting. 7,856 in the Texas Panhandle; 11,869 in Kansas; 41,913 in Nebraska;
5,087 in Colorado and 28,662 in Iowa. Cattle on Feed report showed cattle on
feed January 1, 2013 at 94, with December placements at 99, and cattle marketed
during December at 98. Friday afternoon boxed beef cutout values were weak on
light demand and light to moderate offerings. Choice was down .57 at 187.44 with
Select down .33 to close at 181.86 on 154 loads. The hide and offal value from a
typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 13.63 per cwt live, up
0.01 when compared to Thursday's value. The estimated cattle slaughter for
Friday was reported at 122,000 with 6,000 on Saturday for a week to date
estimate of 625,000.

on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and
more frequently during active trading periods.
