Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/17/2013

Cattle and Calves:  1483     Two Weeks ago: 2286      Year Ago: 2669          

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs steady to 
3.00 higher, 600-700 lbs steers steady to 2.00 lower, steers over 700 lbs and 
heifers over 600 lbs 2.00-5.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady; no comparison on 
slaughter bulls. Trade and demand moderate to good. Feeder supply consisted of 
several consignments of thin, long weaned calves that were in good demand and 
received highest price levels. Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 400-900 lb 
feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 19 percent, slaughter bulls 
less than 1 percent, replacement cows than 2 percent, and feeders 78 percent.  
The feeder supply included 48 percent steers and 52 percent heifers.  Near 55 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
