Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/31/2013

Cattle and Calves: 1686     Week ago: 1778      Year Ago:  2519          

   Compared to week ago:  Feeder steers and heifers firm to 2.00 higher, one 
large string steers from reputation source sold 5.00 higher.  Slaughter cows 
firm.  Slaughter bulls 1.00-2.00 higher.  Trade active.  Demand good.  It 
appeared all the established feeder buyers typically in attendance from week to 
week were pushing to fill orders which made for lively trade.  Body condition on 
receipts mostly moderate flesh with a few fleshy.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 
1-2 450-950 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 29 percent, 
slaughter bulls less than 1 percent, replacement cows 0 percent, and feeders 70 
percent.  The feeder supply included 68 percent steers and 32 percent heifers.  
Near 81 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
