Georgia Cattle Auctions Daily Summary
Georgia Livestock Auctions that were held Wednesday May 2, 2012
Cattle auctions at Ashburn (1150), Athens (397), Donalsonville (503),
Jackson (290), Moultrie (330), and Washington (320). Receipts Wednesday
2,990 week ago 3,407 and year ago 2,674. Compared to one week earlier,
slaughter cows and bulls mostly steady, feeder steers 1.00 to 2.00 lower,
heifers unevenly steady to 2.00 lower, steer calves and heifer calves 1.00 to
4.00 lower, replacement cows mostly steady.
Slaughter cows 18 percent, slaughter bulls 2 percent and feeders 80 percent.
In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 55 percent of the run,
heifers 38 percent and replacement cows 7 percent, steers and heifers over
600 lbs totaled around 17 percent.
