Feeder Cattle Auction Narrative Report for Mon 10/08/2012
Estimated Receipts: 7000 Last Monday: 4780 Yr Ago Monday: 7021
Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 1.00 higher. Feeder
heifers 1.00-3.00 higher. Demand good for feeder cattle. Steer calves
4.00-12.00 higher, most advance under 550 lbs. Heifer calves sold firm
to 3.00 higher. Demand very good for long weaned calves moderate for
others. Wide swings in day and night temperatures making it tough to
keep un-weaned calves healthy. Cold front moved in over the weekend
leaving frost on an early October pumpkin this morning. Many areas of
the state reporting record low temperatures of 27-32 degrees. Quality
plain thru attractive and improved from last week. Feeder demand
improved some as cattle futures and live cattle prices showed strength
last week.
