Feeder Cattle Auction Narrative Report for Mon 01/28/2013

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 2.00-3.00 higher.
Steer and heifer calves steady to 4.00 higher, with 4 weights up to
10.00 higher. Demand very good for all classes. Cattle futures closed
sharply higher renewing optimism in the markets. Quality average to
attractive, few plain. Feeder cattle in slightly thin to moderate
flesh; calves and stockers in average to moderate flesh conditions,
few thin. Weigh-ups mostly average. Receipts this week totaled 72
percent over 600 lbs and 45 percent heifers.

400-450 lbs 205.00-215.00; 450-500 lbs 182.50-196.00, thin fleshed 203.00;
500-550 lbs 171.50-185.00, few fleshy 164.00; 550-600 lbs 163.00-172.00;
625-700 lbs 150.00-156.00; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 154.00-161.25, thin
