Weighted Average Summary for 4 Texas Auctions - 11/05/2012 thru 11/10/2012
Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report.
Receipts: 7,266 Last Week 6,886 Last Year 11,076
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to 4.00
higher, except calves early in the week at Amarillo sold 1.00-4.00 lower. Dry
ranges and wheat pastures are in need of rain. Time that calves have been weaned
has been very much a price determining factor as long weaned kinds commanding
highest price levels. The recent fluctuating temperatures from warm to cold and
possibilities of sickness have short weaned and bawling calves discounted
accordingly. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Trade and
demand moderate. Feeder supply included 53 percent steers and bulls, 47
percent heifers. Approximately 50 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
