Dairy Outlook: February all milk price up $0.90/cwt
The February Pennsylvania all‐milk price was up $0.90/cwt. from January to $19.80/cwt. Both Class III and Class IV prices moved up sharply, with Class III up $3.52 and Class IV up $1.98.

Milk production forecast for 2011 is reduced
The milk production forecast for 2011 is reduced from last month. Relatively high milk prices and increased supplies of replacement heifers are expected to encourage further increases in the cow herd through much of the year, but the rate of increase in milk per cow is forecast slower than last month.

The January all‐milk price was down $1.50/cwt. from December to $17.80/cwt. The Class III and Class IV prices moved in opposite directions, with Class III down $0.38 and Class IV up $1.39.

Milk production and milk prices expected to be higher in 2011
Feed prices continue upward. The soybean meal price is projected at $340 to $380 per ton, up from last month’s projection. Slightly lower planted acreage and lower yields combined to cause the rise in the forecast. The corn price forecast was also raised, to $5.05 to $5.75 per bushel.
