Minneapolis Weekly Grain Summary
Prices for the week ending Thursday March 21, 2013
**The prices for spring wheat on the spot rail market are now quoted
delivered Chicago/Beyond.**
The milling wheat market was mixed this past week. Supplies were light. There
were a few days that the wind was so bad in parts of the region, that rail cars
were not able to be probed.
**Spring Wheat: Prices are for US 1 Dark Northern Spring Wheat with less
than 2.0 pct Vomitoxin. The 14's was 1.75 to 11.75 cents higher from 9.1775-
9.2275, the basis was steady to 10 cents higher from 115-120 cents over the May
futures delivered Chicago/Beyond. The 15's were 3.25 cents lower from 9.2775N-
9.7275N; the basis was 5 cents lower from 125N-170N cents over the May futures
delivered Chicago/Beyond. The 12 pct protein Hard Red Winter Wheat had no quote
on the spot market, The 20 day to-arrive truck delivery for 12 pct protein HRW
bid into Minneapolis was 7.75 cents higher at 8.2050; the basis was steady at 60
cents over the Kansas City May futures.
Durum: Choice and Balance Milling Durum had no quote. Both Minneapolis and
Duluth terminal durum continued to have no quote.
Rye: US 1 Rye had no quote on the spot market. The to-arrive Rye had no bid.
Barley: Robust Malting Barley 60 pct or better plump max. 2.0 ppm vomitoxin
had no quote. The to-arrive bid for 1.0 ppm vomitoxin rail delivered to
Minneapolis had no quote for March/April. Feed Barley delivered into Duluth
closed the week with no bid. Feed Barley delivered into Minneapolis was 5 cents
higher with a bid of 5.25.
Corn: US 2 Yellow Corn was 5.50 cents higher at 7.1700, the basis was 11 cents
lower at 16 cents under the Chicago May futures. The to-arrive bids for corn
are: April at 7.2400, May at 7.2000 June at 7.2225, July at 7.2325 and October
at 5.2750.
Oats: US 2 or better Oats had no quote. The To-arrive bids for oats were 1.50
cents lower at 4.2500, the basis was steady at 30 cents over the May futures.
Soybeans: US 1 Yellow Soybeans had no bid until River Open. The to-arrive
bids for soybeans are: April at 14.4400, May at 14.4400, June at 14.1950 July at
14.1950 and October at 12.4425.
