WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids closed higher with wheat
leading the way. Wheat found support from continued weather concerns in the
winter wheat region. Crop conditions were down another point to 33 percent good
to excellent. Corn saw spillover support from wheat and soybeans. Soybeans
were higher on good demand. However, grains were under pressure Thursday
closing with modest losses as wheat followed corn lower and soybeans closed
slightly higher. Corn had weak export sales of 236,100 tonnes for current
marketing year. Soybeans had export sales above expectations at 319,100 tonnes
for the current marketing year. Wheat had export sales below expectations at
279,300 tonnes for the current marketing year. Wheat was 17-59 cents higher.
Corn was 7-16 cents higher. Sorghum was 19-20 cents higher. Soybeans were 31-
40 cents higher.
WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 41
3/4 to 59 3/4 cents higher from 9.68-10.36 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft
Red winter rail bid no quote per bushel. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red
Winter terminal bid was 24 cents higher at 8.59 per bushel. Minneapolis and
Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 17
1/4 to 27 1/4 cents higher from 10.31 1/4-10.41 1/4 per bushel. Portland US
Soft White wheat rail was not available 8.80-8.95 1/2 per bushel.
CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 12 to 16 cents higher from
8.37-8.48 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 11 cents higher
at 7.87 per bushel. Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 11 to 16 cents higher
from 7.79-7.80 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 7 1/2 to 12 1/2
cents higher from 7.41 1/2-7.63 1/2 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn
was 10 1/2 cents higher from 7.54 1/2-7.58 1/2 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2
Yellow corn rail was 9 1/2 cents higher at 7.23 1/2 per bushel.
OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 8 1/2 to 18 1/2 cents higher from 3.93 1/2-4.03 1/2 per bushel. US No 3
or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was
5 cents higher at 7.25 per bushel. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and
Barges-export was not available per cwt.
SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 20 cents higher at 13.25 per
cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 19 cents higher from 13.15-13.42 per cwt.
OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans no bid. Illinois Processors US
No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 31 3/4 to 39 3/4 cents higher from 14.52-14.68
per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 40 cents higher at
14.68 per bushel. Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid
was 11.80 to 14.80 higher from 457.70-467.70 per ton. Central Illinois Crude
Soybean oil processor bid was 74 to 124 points higher from 46.77-47.52 cents per
pound.
